We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Production Tools Software Engineer to join our internal software department. This person will work closely with production departments to ensure the seamless flow of production data traveling through various artistic departments.
The Production Tools Software Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting production procedures and problems, evaluating the effectiveness of existing systems, making recommendations to improve quality, efficiency, and workflow, and ultimately developing software tools for animation production. He or she will partner with artists and technical directors across multiple films to determine user needs and review system capabilities to decide what changes can be made within the existing systems and when new systems must be added.
Responsibilities
- Interact with artists and technical directors to creatively solve challenging technical problems
- Be an expert in existing software systems that make up the production pipeline from beginning to end and thoroughly understanding production workflows
- Enhance, modify, and redesign the systems to accommodate the ever-changing requirements of production with solutions appropriate to time and resource constraints
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Experience developing production software for computer animation in film, television, or game production (film preferred)
- Experience with Maya API, Mel, Python, Renderman or other rendering software preferred.
- Experience with Houdini, Shake, Nuke a plus
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other related field. Focus in Computer Graphics, CG film-making or entertainment and media technologies preferred.
- Object-oriented C++ experience in a Unix/Linux development environment
- Must be able to design, implement, document, and support desktop applications with minimal supervision
- Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
